Jeffrey Vasser, president of the Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority made the announcement today. “Howard Bacharach has been a vital member and leader of the Atlantic City community for years,” said Vasser. “His scholarship programs through the Hotel and Lodging Association have enabled many students to pursue their dreams. And his passion for doing his part in maintaining Atlantic City’s standing as a top tier destination resort is well known and appreciated.” Bacharach has served as executive director of the ACHLA since 2003. For the past four years he has been a Board Member of the John Brooks Recovery Center, located in Atlantic City, and in 2008 was elected to the position of Board Vice President. Bacharach will receive the Spirit of Hospitality Award on Wednesday, May 13 in the Ballroom at Atlantic City Boardwalk Hall. During the event each year, an outstanding individual who has made a significant long-term contribution to the region’s hospitality and travel industry is bestowed with a Spirit of Hospitality Award. Proceeds will benefit The ACCVA Foundation, a charitable 501(c) (3) tax exempt organization created by the Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority. The event also will introduce the inaugural partnership venture between the ACCVA Foundation and the Greater Atlantic City Concierge Association, when they present two scholarships to hospitality and tourism students attending local colleges. Tickets for the 12th annual Atlantic City Host Awards are $65. Individual tickets and tickets for tables of 10 are available. The Event will be held at the Boardwalk Hall on Wednesday, May 13, 2009.
